Aggregate

Aggregates from our Hyland Pit 1, Maple Lake Pit, and Bevan Pit allows us to directly supply aggregate for road building, retaining walls, foundations, driveways, walking/biking paths, drainage ditches, rip rap walls, rock pits and more. The production operation uses a stationary crushing plant to process aggregate from raw pit run material into a vast array of products.

Our Hyland Pit 1 has a wash plant for washed aggregates for product and project specific requirements.

Aggregate Delivery and Pickup

Hyland Precast can deliver in the Comox Valley and anywhere between Parksville and Campbell River. Our sister company, T&R Contracting, can also supply aggregate and sand materials in Powell River, qathet and the Sunshine Coast.

All aggregate products are sold in bulk. For small loads, please call the office to arrange a pick up time for your order. For large loads, delivery is available Monday to Friday from 7 am to 4 pm. Please call to book a delivery.

Gravel

Screened Pit Run

Compacts better and is easier to work with than straight Pit Run.

Pit Run Gravel

Unmanufactured gravel with rocks up to 12”, but typically 6” and less. It is used for a base for roads and driveways and should be placed in layers 12” thick or more. Pit Run gravel must be machine levelled.

Packing Pit Run

Provides superior compaction over screened or regular pit run. It is a good product for use on any residential or commercial project.

Sand

3 MM Sand

Washed Sand is fine mortar sand that can be used for brick laying, masonry work, stucco work or for filling the joints in and around paving stones. A great product for play sand.

Ready Mix Sand

Also known as coarse washed, this is used for mixing concrete. However it can also be used for levelling ground under pavers or flagstone, in a child’s sandbox or even in horse shoe pits.

C33

Used on septic fields and sewage mounds. C-33 has been shown to reduce the rate of biomat clogging due to fewer fines in the material.

Bedding Sand

Bedding sand is a small aggregate with no large stones or extra debris, and is designed to be a dry landscaping material. Its primary use is as a base for paving and patio stones. It is also widely used for agricultural purposes such as animal stalls and riding rings.

Rock

Crushed Rock

Crushed stone is used mostly as aggregate for road construction and maintenance.

Birds Eye

This round rock can be used for decorative uses around the perimeter of homes or garden beds. Could also be used for a dog run because of its good drainage and ease on your pets feet, it is also becoming the popular choice for children’s play areas.

3/4 Drain Rock

Drain Rock can be used for a multitude of purposes from decorative ground cover, helping with drainage issues, septic fields, and dry stream beds or to top planters. The larger rock can be used in areas where a leaf blower may be in use, as it won’t disturb the stone.

Oversize Rock

Available in 2”-6” and extra oversized rock 8” plus.

Navvy Jack 3/4

Is a mixture of ¾” clear crush, washed sand and pea gravel and is used to make concrete.

Crushed Stone ¾

Crushed stone with screening acts as a binding agent allowing the product to hard pack and stand up in high traffic areas. It is mainly used for driveways, parking areas, pathways, or anywhere you want a compact surface while still providing drainage.

Cartpath

Consisting of ⅜ coarse crushed rock and processed fine material, this product will pack up nice and hard and is mainly used for pathways, driveways or anywhere a heavier wheeled vehicle such as a tractor would need to travel often. Does not drain well.

Clear Crush

Uniformly graded clear crushed stone common applications are drainage, landscaping, rail ballast, and slab preparations.

Road Crush 3/4

Used for roads, driveways, industrial yards, bedding under sidewalks and concrete slabs.

Extra Oversized Rock

Available in 2”-6” and extra oversized rock 8” plus. This is a great rock to build out large rock gardens and landscaping, create gabions, or build small retaining walls.
