Hyland Ready Mix offers a full range of concrete products. Our concretes are designed for almost any applications such as slabs, walls, driveways, sidewalks, patios, structural columns, and decorative uses such as stamped or colored concrete.

For any of our specialty, colour, or specification concretes, our salespeople will review all requirements and pricing with you on a project specific basis.

Concrete cracks if it begins to shrink very early in its life. This is caused by the tension created by shrinkage and shows as a crack. Fibre reinforcement – a concrete mixture reinforced with randomly oriented fibres such as natural, cellulose, steel or glass – effectively spreads the tension throughout the slab and helps to minimize cracking and increases structural integrity.

There are many benefits to using a fibre reinforced concrete:

• Fibre reinforced is a good substitute for rolled wire mesh reinforcement.
• Helps make the concrete “bleed” more consistently and creates a stronger impact resistant concrete surface.
• Has a higher water absorption and the propensity to attract or repel liquid.
• Improves the strength and durability of concrete, and may be used as a substitute to rebar.
• Improves frees-thaw resistance.
• Improves pump ability over longer distances.
• Creates great surfaces from broom finish to stamped concrete.
• Cost effective – less staff required.
• Environmentally friendly.

Hyland Ready Mix offers easy placement, high early strength concrete. This concrete allows for better utilization of form work and advances construction time. Rapid setting concrete is capable of attaining its specified strength at an earlier age than normal concrete through the use of high-early strength cements and/or chemical admixtures. When time is of the essence on a concrete project, utilizing rapid setting concrete provides quality, durability, and cost savings and reduces construction time. This concrete can be cured as little as one hour. Rapid-hardening concrete has a much smaller carbon footprint than applications where portland cement is used.

This is good in applications where sound-proofing is required such as between floors and end of elevator shafts or for tilt up walls. For projects in British Columbia, rapid setting concrete can contain an air-entraining admixture for freeze-thaw durability.
