If a residence or new development is not serviced by a municipal sewer system the system must have an in-ground treatment and disposal system, commonly known as a septic system, which takes household wastewater away.

As wastewater passes through the chambers, oil particulates are tumbled over the surface, allowing them to collect and form larger globules, increasing buoyancy.
